What’s Your Labs Favourite Room?

As of late my chocolate labrador retriever Cooper has switched from just laying around the living room all day and spending time snoozing in other rooms. It's strange because he spent the first six years of his life just staring out the front window. Now he seems to like sleeping on the bathroom floor. I guess he finds it cool on the floor during the summer. We have to replace everything in there starting with the tub, the walls and Moen faucets. I am not sure where he going to sleep during the day when we start that project but I am sure he it won't take him long to find another spot.

Labrador Retriever Runs for Mayor

FAIRHOPE, Ala. - One of the candidates in the race to become Fairhope's next mayor is considerably more hairy than the rest. He also has twice as many legs and a constantly wagging tail. Wille Bean Roscoe P. Coltrane is a 7-year-old yellow Labrador retriever whose owner has taken a satirical poke at politics by launching the pooch into the race.

But Willie Bean may not be up for that rough-and-tumble world.

"When a little dog barks at him, he cringes and he runs away," owner Tress Turner told the Press-Register in a story Sunday.

Turner, 43, manages The Coffee Loft, which is also the dog's campaign headquarters where supporters can purchase T-shirts and yard signs.

Researching Your Next Labrador Retriever

If you are going to invest your money I am sure that you will research out your investments with a financial advisor or something like a bpm. If you go out and spend money on an appliance, a car or something tech related I am sure that you will research things out, look for good reviews and a good price and make your decision with all of these in mind. Why then do people run out and get a dog or a pet without doing any kind of research first? I see so many people get a labrador retriever puppy without doing any kind of research into the breed and the characteristics of the dog. They get a dog with really thinking about the financial responsibilities that owning a dog may carry. They buy a dog from breeders without doing any kind or reasonable checks into what kind of breeder they are. The cost of a labrador retriever or pet can easily cost you the same as a decent investment or big ticket purchase for your house so please do some digging and decide if a labrador retriever is for you. If you decide it is then please search for a good breeder, look at several like you would for a stereo and then make your decision.

Do You Know Your Dog Laws?

Over the past few years it seems that many municipalities or cites have been radically altering the dog and pet laws. The news laws range from out wide bans of certain breeds, dog licenses, muzzle and leash laws. While we may not always agree with certain laws all the time it's important to stay on top of them and be informed to protect yourself from any legality. The last things that we as pet or dog owners want to do is pay a fine for not having our dog on a leash or have to hire a team of Chicago personal injury lawyers because of a lawsuit. Remember, you can always challenge dog laws that you don’t agree with by writing your politicians or signing petitions. Not abiding by them leaves you in a world of trouble.

Is Your Lab Just Being a Lab?

I see more people asking the same type of behavioral questions about their labrador retriever puppies. My lab puppy is stealing my shoes, chewing everything in sight, eating everyting is site and even once where their puppy was in the habit of stealing a disposable diaper when given the chance. Many times people think that their labrador retriever puppy has behavioral issues or is being a bad puppy.

For the most part they are just being normal labrador retriever puppies. They are highly energetic, aggressive chewers for the better part of their lives and from what I have found nosey or very into exploring their surroundings. Of course you want to correct any outrageous behavior with positive reinforcement but don’t get too worried when they are young. Sometimes it’s all part of just being a labrador retriever puppy.

Labrador Retriever Pictures

One thing our family is not big on is taking pictures. I think primarily because we don't have the proper equipment to take a lot of high quality photos. We would love to upgrade our camera and look at picking up some memory cards so we can store more pictures. Right now we have an old Sony Cybershot with a very small memory card for storing our photos. I was wondering if any of the labrador retriever blog readers could recommend some camera equipment for us to upgrade to? I would love to share some more labrador retriever photos of Cooper but just don't have the good to do it.

Keeping Your Labrador Retriever Healthy

It’s probably not too surprising that many of us take our dogs health for granted. We probably don’t mean to do it. It just kind of happens by accident. We expose them to things or feed them food with ingredients that we wouldn’t eat or expose ourselves to. We rush out and take our vitamins, eat healthy food do things like giving ourselves a liver cleanse. We then turn around and feed our dog food with questionable ingredients or even expose them to second hand smoke. It’s just a matter of becoming more aware of what we are exposing out pets to. After all, we want them to live a long and health life. So think about it next time you are shopping for pet food or taking your dog in public or even buying them a toy. Read the label and think about exactly what you are giving them.

You Cant Keep A Lab Out of Water

It was one of those moments I wish I had a camera but I didn't. Our neighbourhood is undergoing a water restoration. All of the houses are having their pipes from the road replaced which means their are hoses everywhere piping the water into the houses from main on the street. The result is that there is water everywhere during the day on the streets. Try taking your labrador retriever for a walk with pools of water everywhere in the street. I took Cooper around the block to mail some birthday invitations and we couldn't go two seconds without Cooper laying down and splashing around in the water. It must have been a paradise for him. What are some odd places your labrador retriever has gone for a swim?
