Looking at the Fake Labrador Breeder

Now that you and your family have decided that it is time to get a new pet and you have decided on a Labrador, it is now time to talk to Labrador breeders. You will want to do some homework to make sure that you do not get a fake breeder or a breeder that is not reputable. You want to be certain you are doing business with a reputable breeder because your dog's health depends on it and your family is counting on you.

The Internet is filled with the many breeder registries that any good breeder will want to be a part of to show that they conform to healthy standards of breeding quality dogs. The most popular registry is the American Kennel Club but they are not the only registry around. Check and see if the breeder you are considering is a member of any of the national registries before you talk to them personally.

A Labrador breeder is someone that will be a part of your life and your dog's life for a very long time. If you ever have a question you should be able to ask your breeder and know that you are getting the information you need. If you do not get answers that satisfy your questions when you are looking for a breeder then chances are the communication after the sale may be less than reliable. Communication with your breeder is important so be sure to gauge their reliability when you are talking to them.

Any good breeder is going to offer you detailed care instructions when you purchase your new Labrador and they are very likely to send you home with a sample of the dog's food so you know what to feed the dog. If your breeder indicates that they are not in the habit of offering care instructions or food samples then the breeder you are talking to may not be the breeder for you.

The Magnetic Bracelet

Kind of a miscellaneous post but when out walking the dog the other day I ran into a friend that I hadn't seen in awhile. She was wearing one of those magnetic bracelets. The kind you see on the internet and on tv. I didn't ask about it but after I got home I became a little more curious. He see the commercials on television where golfers state that they help with their circulation, arthritis and sore joints. I am thinking of picking up a magnetic bracelet. I have a sore wrist and hand that always kills me during the summer when playing golf. A couple of other golf buddies have the same thing. I wonder if it can help or make a difference when walking the dog.

Labrador Loves His Hats

I don't know what it is about hats but my Cooper loves them for some reason. I can barely keep a cap in the house without him getting into them. He never really destroys them but he certainly associates a ball hat or cap with goofy playtime. I can wear it on my head and it doesn't bother him but as soon as I take it off and have it my hands he thinks its go time. There must have been something happen when he was a puppy although I can't think of anything off hand. It's funny how they will associate something like a hat in my hands with playtime.

Dog Toys for Your Labrador Retriever

I was actualy out the other day doing some shopping. I was looking at replacing my current watch and was looking over some Nautica watches. We then went to a dog store to pick something up for Cooper. We still have Gary the Gator that I blogged about earlier but we thought he could use something new. After looking around the pet food store for a bit we couldn't decided on what other type of dog toy to get him. There were lots of choices and lots of different prices but you never know what is going to hold up. That's when I thought about the blog. Somebody out there has to have a recomendation for a new toy for an agressive chewing labrador retriever. If you do please let me know.

Canine Acne

Canine AcneSome of you may not be aware but dog breeds like labrador retriever puppies can develop what is called canine acne. Canine acne usually breaks out on their chin, lips, and muzzle. It can also be associated with scabs and blackheads on their lips, chin and muzzle. While not usually harmful it can become infected which leads to many other problems.

There are several treatments for canine acne which are similiar to human treatments for acne. A trip to the vet would be your best bet and get the proper diagnosis as sometimes it could be mistaken for food allergies. A few people on the chat forums have remarked that they changed their labrador retrievers bowls from plastic to steel. Their dogs were allergic to the plastic. At any rate, if you dogs snout looks to be infected then get to a vet.
