Choosing a Proper Dog Bed

Labrador Retriever Blog | August 29th, 2010

Pet owners love to spoil their pets. We purchase countless numbers of dog toys and collars and leashes. One thing we sometimes overlook is the comfort level of our dogs, especially as they grow older. As a responsible dog owner it is important for us to make sure they have a comfy place to sleep by purchasing them a proper dog bed.  When selecting a proper dog bed you have to consider the size and build of your dog. The larger the dog you have, the larger the bed you will need.

With the influx of cheaper dog beds from abroad it is important that you find a large dog bed that is hypo-allergenic and anti-bacterial. Many of the large dog beds coming from overseas are made with harmful chemicals and materials. While they may look appealing because of their low cost, they can actually be dangerous to you and your dog.

Dog beds also come in a number of different shapes as well. Before purchasing a new dog bed you should watch your dog and see what position they sleep in most. This will help your decide what shape of dog bed is proper for your dog.

Shopping for Dog Supplies

Labrador Retriever Blog | October 28th, 2009

Do you have a fav place where you shop for your dog toys and dog supplies? We don't have anything that close that offers much of a selection so we have to try different places to shop for our dog. There are lots of generic type box stores in town but they don't offere much of a selection or anything that I would consider quality for a good price. What's the sense of buying a cheap dog toy that is going to be chewed up after 20 minutes of play. Something we have been looking into lately is shopping online. We are surprised how inexpensive it is to get good quality items shipped right to our door. We like not having to go out and fight the crowds on a Saturday afternoon. If you are looking for dog toys and supplies at a good price try going online.

Dog Toys Online

Labrador Retriever Blog | August 2nd, 2009

So I admit that I am an online auction junkie. This last couple of weeks alone I have bought a golf jacket, a huge lot of beer can koozies and a golf bag. Why not the deals are better than anything I can find around here. I figure I have saved a ton of money if I would have shopped locally. Then I got to thinking why not save some money on dog toys and pet supplies online. If I can find golf deals there has to be a ton of pet supply and toy savings to be had. Next time you are looking for some pet supplies consider looking at free online auctions. You never know how much you can save.

Buying A Dog Bed

Labrador Retriever Blog | November 25th, 2008

One topic that continually comes up on the labrador retriever chat forums is dog beds. Members are always looking for places to buy a good quality dog bed and at a good price. We all know how rough our dogs can be on things like toys, beds and of course our shoes and slippers. We went out without doing much research and bought a cheap dog bed that just didn’t last too long. I am sure that if we would have searched around we could have done better.

I found a website that sells dogs beds and they have everything laid out for you so that you can find exactly what you are looking for. They have a very wide selection of different dog beds and for all types and sized of dogs. There are many styles and colors to choose from for your large or small dog. You can sort their inventory by price, best selling and by the newest beds that have been added to the inventory. The dog beds are also rated by other dog owners so you can see how they felt about their purchase.

If you are looking for a dog bed then have a look at their dog supply website and I am sure you will be able to find what you are a looking for and at a good price when compared to other dog stores.

Shopping for Dog Clothes

Labrador Retriever Blog | October 9th, 2008

Dog CostumesJust yesterday I was teasing a girl at work because she wanted to dress her labrador retriever up for Halloween. She has looked all over town at clothing stores and pet food stores and could not find anything. She was asking me if I could help her out by finding a place that sells halloween costumes for dogs. It is really hard to find anything locally so I went online today to see what I could find for her.

After searching through Google I found a great site that specializes in selling dog clothes and costumes. They have a great selection of dog clothes that you won’t find in any local pet store. The hardest part of picking out clothes for your dog is selection and they have plenty of that. You can find anything from sweaters, footwear, general outdoor wear and even jackets for dogs. The great thing is that they have lots of different choices in each category not just one or two sweaters like most places. They have over thirty different styles to choose from. I also know what it’s like to buy something like this at other pet food stores. You spend a lot of money for something that doesn’t last. Well they have some great sales on right now on all of their dog clothes so you can grab something nice at a decent price and the quality looks great.

Don’t settle for anything less than great quality dog clothing at more than affordable prices with great selection.

Dog Toys for Your Labrador Retriever

Labrador Retriever Blog | September 3rd, 2008

I was actualy out the other day doing some shopping. I was looking at replacing my current watch and was looking over some Nautica watches. We then went to a dog store to pick something up for Cooper. We still have Gary the Gator that I blogged about earlier but we thought he could use something new. After looking around the pet food store for a bit we couldn't decided on what other type of dog toy to get him. There were lots of choices and lots of different prices but you never know what is going to hold up. That's when I thought about the blog. Somebody out there has to have a recomendation for a new toy for an agressive chewing labrador retriever. If you do please let me know.

Labrador Retriever Dog Toys

Labrador Retriever Blog | August 10th, 2008

There is such a wide variety of dog toys available on the market today it can be a little overwhelming trying to decide what to buy. There is such a choice it reminds me of when my other half and I were out shopping for unique baby gifts. There are a couple of things that you want to keep in mind when searching for the perfect toy. Labrador retriever dogs are pretty aggressive chewers so always look for a toy that is made out of durable material. Some toys you will buy have a rating system based on chewing. Always look for the highest rating especially if you labrador retriever is big chewer like mine. Otherwise, the toy will be gone in a day or even a couple of hours. Finally, have a look to see if there are small parts or pieces that can come off the toy like eyes or buttons. If your labrador retriever is anything like mine he is going to swallow those parts and that is not always a good thing. The more "one-piece" the toy the better.

Cooper and the Duck

Labrador Retriever Blog | May 5th, 2008

Chocolate Labrador Retriever PicturesThis is a bit of an older picture but I thought I would share it. Cooper loves his duck but the duck didn't last too long. This labrador retriever loves his chewing and tore through it to get the squeaker out in no time flat. So much stuffing, it was quite a scene. If you are looking for good places to find some quality dog toys have a look at the Labrador Retriever Dog Pet Supplies Page. It includes all of the sponsors for the Chat Board plus some of the best places to find toys and training good for your dog or pet.

Gary Gator Tuffies Dog Toy Review

Labrador Retriever Blog | February 25th, 2008

If you are like us, you have probably spent a small fortune on chew toys for your labrador retriever dog. I can’t even begin to tell you how many different types of toys we have brought into the house, only to see them chewed to pieces in less than a day or two.

Our Cooper is a real aggressive chewer. For Christmas this year we picked up something a little different from ropes or kongs. The toy we found is Gary Gator and is made by Tuffies. He is a cute little alligator about 18 inches long with three squeakers. It’s now February and Gary is still alive and kicking.

He just lost his head today and that is after two months of constant chewing and tugging. Not bad for a labrador retriever that has shredded every other toy he has gotten his teeth on. Although they say it’s not a chew toy on their website it certainly has withstood some aggressive chewing.

Tuffies also has a full line of rings, dinosaurs, sea creatures and a tug of war toy. They have something for every type of chewer. You can see their products at Sit Stay, a website that has been selling quality dog products and supplies since 1996.
