Lost Christmas Presents Yet?

Labrador Retriever Blog | January 4th, 2009

The other day Cooper came running by the coffee table and tv stand with his tail a wagging and knocked over a glass of water. Luckily nothing was ruined but it was a reminder to us that even when you labrador retriever gets older you still have to be careful with what you leaving laying around and in their reach. The chat board seen quite a few new members over the holidays with new puppies and questions about their puppies chewing and getting into things. There are lots of articles here and an entire forum set up to help you out.

Happy New Year

Labrador Retriever Blog | January 4th, 2009

A little belated but I wanted to wish all of the blog readers a happy new year. We have been busy at home over the holidays and I haven't had much time to update things as I would have liked. We had some minor home renovations on the go,visting and family and friends as well as other things like finding some reasonable auto insurance as our just ran out.

Cooper is good and enjoyed Christmas and some of his doggy toys that he got from Santa. I have a few pictures but have yet to take them off of the camera I will make sure that I post them when I can. If anybody needs anything or help make sure to leave a comment or some feedback. As of late they have all been from spammers promoting their sites. I would like to hear from you.

Time to Travel

Labrador Retriever Blog | December 10th, 2008

I posted a little while back about looking at vacations because of the way the economy was going. There are lots of opportunities out there to get some great vacation rentals or properties cheap. It would be a good time to take the family on a trip. There are lots of fairly decent priced rentals down south to be had. You can find and rent places in the Outer Banks for next to nothing these days. Well bloggers if you have been thinking about taking a trip and getting a rental for a getaway the time couldn’t be better.

Cost of Owning A Dog

Labrador Retriever Blog | December 10th, 2008

I saw some posts this week on the chat forums about costs of owning a dog and responsibilities of owning a dog so I thought I would blog a post. When you are bringing a dog into your home you are going to have costs that you are going to have to be able to afford. You are going to have to feed and care for that pet and if you aren’t ready or in a spot to do so then it’s the pet that is going to suffer. There are essentials that they will need. Although it can be like shopping around for cheap auto insurance. You can find deals on toys and food if you are a wise and thrifty shopper. There are many deals to be had online and in stores but in the end you are going to have to provide the essentials like food, health and shelter to your pet so be prepared to do so. They give you unconditional loyalty, it’s the leas you can do for them.

Getting Insurance Quotes

Labrador Retriever Blog | December 6th, 2008

If you think getting pet insurance quotes, rates and finding a good company then try looking for term life insurance quotes. I have a friend that wanted me to help him look through the internet at some life insurance rates. Luckily there are some good websites out there that you can get free quotes on and look over different rates and policies. Otherwise it would be a nightmare. The same is probably true for pet insurance. I know how confusing this can be.

Is My TV Safe?

Labrador Retriever Blog | November 2nd, 2008

I went out last week and treated myself to a new tv. The flat panel kind but I am not planning to have it wall mounted. A wall mounted television just doesn't fit into the way my tv room is set up. Instead it sits on a lower tv stand that I have been using for a few years. The thing that I noticed first off is that it isn't that sturdy and if that dog of mine gets doing one of his butt tucks god only knows what will happen. I will have to find a more permanent place for it. I was looking at one of those tv lifts, they look pretty sturdy and fashionable. Anything to get it out of doggy gone wild range.

Replaced Our Home Computer

Labrador Retriever Blog | October 29th, 2008

After many months of debating about our computer at home I finally replaced or added to our network with a laptop. It has given us a lot of freedom so I can blog and work on the chat board forums while still catching sports and it can also be used for homework by the kids. I was suprised when looking using the net to shop how many deals there are out there. Lot of different prices and machines. There was everything from used to new equipment and used server equipment like used cisco. It was overwhelming but we settled on an Acer because it had enough power  to do what we wanted and the price was right. Hopefully it will allow me to bring you some great new blog articles and stories.

Talking About the Blog

Labrador Retriever Blog | October 25th, 2008

Last night we stopped over at a friends’ house, they had just built and moved into their new place. They were asking me about the blog and chat board and how much time it takes each week. Not too much of my time I told them. They were interested in doing something different themselves. They had been to a marketing party which wasn’t up their alley and they were also looking at a number of franchise opportunities. A friend of ours had once owned a number of sandwich shops so they were familiar with the idea of buying a franchise.

It’s Going To Get Knocked Off the Table

Labrador Retriever Blog | October 22nd, 2008

My other half and I were sitting watching television the other night when Cooper got into one of his hyper labrador retriever moods. Before we knew it there goes the tail by the coffee table and there goes the glass full of water everywhere. If there is one rule about labrador retrievers it is if something if you put something on the table that you don’t wan them to get into, they are going to get into it. Down stairs on my coffee table I have my Xbox360 and of course a few CAT6 type cables. If they aren’t tucked away he is going to get tangled in them when he is snooping around.

If you want to save yourself some heartache then don’t leave anything like cans of pop, glasses of water, food on plates on low lying tables. If they can’t get at something then they won’t.

Chat Board Members From All Over the World

Labrador Retriever Blog | October 16th, 2008

The internet is truely an amazing place. When I look at the membership of the labrador retreiver chatboard and forums I am always in awe over the fact there are members from all over the world come together to talk about their dogs. It's incredible that so many different people from different cultures and backgrounds can find common ground at first in their love and admiration for the labrador retriever of just dogs and then find so many other things to talk about.

When I look at the membership I see that we have members from pretty much every continent in world and all of them share a passion for their pets. It goes much beyond that. There have been so many cross continent friendship grow it is truely amazing. We have all learned many things from each other, things about culture and living in general that we just wouldn't have known about otherwise.

I was looking at the many places that members are from and as silly as it sounds I have never been to Las Vegas and think about going there one day, as well as many other places. I found myself looking at las vegas suites the other day online just to see what was available. I am not going anywhere soon but there are so many interesting people from interesting places it would be nice to visit them all.
