Financial Advice at the Labrador Forums

Labrador Retriever Blog | October 14th, 2008

I thought I would do another blog post about how the labrador retriever chat forums and board have grown into so much more than just dog talk. Obviously the labrador retriever is the main focus of the board but there is so much more happening at the forums that it should interest a wide range of people. We discuss everything from hobbies, economics and social issues.

An interesting thread this weekend was about economic planning. An article on CNN mentioned that a person should have enough emergency money put away to last them at least six months. Members were discussing if they do or not and what steps some of them have taken to ensure their safety in times of trouble. Certainly by watching your debt and paying off your credit cards on time are things that can help. If you run your own business you might want to look into business performance management software to help you manage your investment.

There is more to the forums than what you may think. You can learn about a number of issues, get help with things in your daily life and of course see all of the labrador retriever photos you want.

Shopping With Dogs in Mind

Labrador Retriever Blog | October 11th, 2008

Isn't it funny how a dog can affect your life. You have to water and feed them. You have to make sure they get their proper medical treatments and make sure they get their exercise. They become a part of the family for most of us. Well this was never more clearer to me when my other half and I started to discuss maybe purchasing some modern furniture. Not only do we have to take our tastes and preferences into consideration but we have to think about our chocolate labrador retriever as well. Not that we are taking his comfort level into thought, he seems pretty comfortable laying on a cement floor. What we are thinking about is the dog hair. It doesn't make much sense for us to buy something that would collect hair. Simple as that. We have to make our decision with our furriest family member in mind.

Walking the Dog Sight Seeing Tour

Labrador Retriever Blog | October 5th, 2008

Cooper and I were out for a walk this weekend and decided to take another route than we usually go. It's funny how many things you can see in your neighbourhood that you never notice when you are just driving by. You see some houses that have been renovated up very nicely with great landscaping and you see others that are falling apart and in need of some good fixing. You see some old cars and nice cars in laneways and we even seen a small bus for sale the other day. You get to see lots of different and interesting people as well. If you want to get to know your neighbourhood better start walking the dog and take a different route every so often and mix it up. You neved know what you are going to see.

Live Longer With Your Pets

Labrador Retriever Blog | October 2nd, 2008

I was just scanning through google and reading some amazing stories about how people feel healthy and better from just being with their pets and walking their dogs everyday. The blog I was reading entailed a lady who had starting taking orovo and was walking her dogs a couple of times a day. Orovo is a diet pill that among other things also help promote a clearer complexion and smoother skin. My other half has lost an amazing 40 lbs two years ago and kept it off from just taking our labrador retriever dog for longer walks and on a more regular basis. Sometimes we get lazy on the weekends although he gets lots of exercise in the backyard she made sure he at least gets a walk. There is also lots to be said about how pets and dogs can improve ones mental health. Just having a good friend like a labrador retriever around can be a very positive experience.

Finally Have a Camera

Labrador Retriever Blog | September 29th, 2008

So my other half has had my digital camera for work for the past year anyways. Well her company finally sprung a couple bucks to get their employees real cameras to use so my has come home. I hadn't seen it in so long I barely recognized it. I guess I can start taking some snaps of Cooper in action which these days entails a lot of sleeping around on the couch, getting up at 5:00 am for some reason and then going back to bed. I will have to do some checking but I think I will need to upgrade the camera, I could really use a new compact flash or memory card. Right now I can't take too many quality photos until I get that done.

Walking the Dog

Labrador Retriever Blog | September 21st, 2008

Are people respectful when you are out walking your dog? Like today there were some kids playing around with their car and they were reving it pretty good as we walked by. It sounded like they had a turbocharger hooked into it or some kind of alteration to the engine. I am no car expert but they could have been playing around with a power steering rack too. I thought is was kind of rude but no big deal I guess.

It also got me to thinking, am I respectful when walking the dog? Being mindful of non-dog people can go a long way too when out for a walk. Remember, not all people are dog people. If we are passing or coming near people I will tighten the leash up so he doesn't have much room to act up or go near them. If the sidewalk is full or kids are coming I will stand off to the side and make Cooper sit until the go by. There's no point in giving us dog people a bad name.

Las Vegas Vacations

Labrador Retriever Blog | September 13th, 2008

There are several members of the labrador retriever chat board forums from Las Vegas. Last week on the chat board a member as looking for some suggestions on things to do with their upcoming trip. Vegas vacations offer so much to do you couldn’t see everything in a week. One of the members of the chat board suggested to visit places like Red Rock Canyon, the fountains at Bellagio at night, the dolphin habitat at the Mirage and the Stratosphere. Whatever your plans are Vegas offers some of the best excitement you will ever see.

The Magnetic Bracelet

Labrador Retriever Blog | September 10th, 2008

Kind of a miscellaneous post but when out walking the dog the other day I ran into a friend that I hadn't seen in awhile. She was wearing one of those magnetic bracelets. The kind you see on the internet and on tv. I didn't ask about it but after I got home I became a little more curious. He see the commercials on television where golfers state that they help with their circulation, arthritis and sore joints. I am thinking of picking up a magnetic bracelet. I have a sore wrist and hand that always kills me during the summer when playing golf. A couple of other golf buddies have the same thing. I wonder if it can help or make a difference when walking the dog.

Labrador Loves His Hats

Labrador Retriever Blog | September 6th, 2008

I don't know what it is about hats but my Cooper loves them for some reason. I can barely keep a cap in the house without him getting into them. He never really destroys them but he certainly associates a ball hat or cap with goofy playtime. I can wear it on my head and it doesn't bother him but as soon as I take it off and have it my hands he thinks its go time. There must have been something happen when he was a puppy although I can't think of anything off hand. It's funny how they will associate something like a hat in my hands with playtime.
