The Pedigree Adoption Drive

Labrador Retriever Blog | September 16th, 2010

Here is a chance to do a good deed for the day. Pedigree is donating a 20 pound bag of dog food to a shelter simply for writing a blog post. Follow the link by clicking the image below to get all of the details.

  • Each year, more than 4 million dogs end up in shelters and breed rescue organizations. Pedigree created The PEDIGREE Adoption Drive to help shine a spotlight on the plight of these homeless dogs.
  • This year the PEDIGREE Adoption Drive is raising awareness for homeless dogs by donating a bowl of food to shelter dogs for everyone who becomes a “Fan” or “Likes” The PEDIGREE Adoption Drive on Facebook. So far more than 1  million bowls have been donated.
  • Special for BlogPaws West: For each blog that posts about the PEDIGREE® Adoption Drive through September 19th, PEDIGREE® will donate a bag of their new Healthy Longevity Food for Dogs to shelters nationwide. It’s simple: Write a post, help a dog.

  •  Thursday, September 16 through Sunday, September 19,  the Pedigree BlogPaws bloggers will host a Blog Hop, to help raise awareness for the “Write a post, help a dog” effort.

Featured Pet: Chandler

Labrador Retriever Blog | January 25th, 2010

Featured Pet: Chandler Chandler is a quintessential Labrador Retriever, which means he would very much like to retrieve some waterfowl for you. If that's not available, a tennis ball or Frisbee will do just fine. Read more on The Chattanoogan

Don’t Give Up On Your Dog

Labrador Retriever Blog | February 15th, 2009

I made a change at the chat forums last week. I started to archive all of the dogs that members have been involved with the rescue and adoption of. And then reading through the board I am suprised how many people give up on their dogs after their life plans change a little.

I have seen people have children or go back to medical assistant training school or have to move and immediatly want to give their dogs away. There are so many other options out there to help you in your time of transition that you don't need to get rid of old rover. Find a friend or family member that can help out. Look into a kennel or daily dog walker. See if somebody can take them in for a bit.

Your dog loves you unconditionally. The last thing they want is to be dumped in a shelter because you think you can't keep them. Remember, we are supposed to be the evolved species here. There are many options open to you so explore them and give your dog a chance.

Lucas is a Handsome Guy

Labrador Retriever Blog | October 24th, 2008

Pam from Lab Rescue sent this information about another beautiful dog looking for a good home:

LucasHey there! I'm Lucas, a loving and sweet 2-year-old yellow guy. I was found wandering with my "wife" Mina and our daughter McKenzie. Thankfully the great folks at Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida found us and gave us all a great home. I love to play fetch, spend time with my foster family and just roll around in the grass. Sometimes I play so hard I'll fall asleep sitting down — how funny is that?! As much as I would love to keep our family together, we know it is asking a lot. What is important to me is that we all find "furever" families that will love us and keep us safe. I'm currently living with my foster mom, who is wonderful. She tells me I am a handsome boy. That is embarrassing but does make me feel good. I have also heard her tell people that I am AKC, whatever that means. … I have not been exposed to cats or small children but would think that if anyone wants to play I am good for a game of catch. I do love rides in the car, walks on a leash (getting use to not pulling is hard, but I am learning). I just love people … if you are looking for a boy who loves to be loved, I am your man — come visit and we'll play catch.

If you are interested in meeting or adopting Lucas or another Lab, please contact Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida at www.labradorrescue.net or by calling 1-866-464-LABS. All of LRRoF Labs are microchipped, spayed or neutered, and up to date on shots. Each adoption comes with a 30-day prepaid pet health insurance plan. All applicants will have a home inspection and vet reference (if applicable).

Labrador Retriever Puppies for Adoption

Labrador Retriever Blog | March 19th, 2008

Labrador Retriever puppies for adoption are often purebred, and every bit as wonderful, loving, and energetic as a puppy you would buy. Why go to a pet store or breeder when you can find Labrador Retriever puppies for adoption? Often free!

Places such as "Labrador Retriever Rescue and Adoption" have pure and mixed-breed Labrador Retriever puppies. When we went looking online briefly, we found Labrador Retriever puppies for adoption that were 9 weeks old and 12 weeks old.

In a "Yahoo Pets" classified ad, we saw 10 beautiful little Labrador Retriever puppies for adoption in Colorado. The Hoobly classified website had 3 Labrador Retriever puppies for adoption in Idaho.

Labrador Retriever puppies for adoption are also available at Humane Society and independent animal shelters.

Labrador Friends of the South (LFS) is an incorporated, non-profit organization and is dedicated to the rescue and placement of homeless Labrador Retrievers. They also promote the educational aspects of rescue within their communities as it relates to the ethical treatment of dogs and the importance of spaying/neutering to reduce the numbers of unwanted animals.
