@Levanoir dogs do feel pain and I’m sure the vaccine hurt Ricki a little bit, but she didn’t seem to mind it too much, she didn’t cry or move at all.
Do the vaccines hurt/bother the puppy did you have to hold her down or in any way try to control her while the wet gave her the vaccines?
@GuideDogManiac she loves when i carry her to see the fish swimming around
I take my dog to the pet store every time I go there. It is a small store but every time we pass the store he wants to go in which can’t always happen. He loves the treat area. When we first had him and he wasn’t leash trained properly he pulled me down the aisle and I still laugh about it to this day. He is a lot better now though.
My dog, 10-year-old Mister, loves going to the pet store. He doesn’t pay any attention to the animals for sale because we have rabbits & had hamsters so he’s used to seeing themBut more than that, he likes going to the pet store because it means a ride in the car, which is one of his favorite things, as long as we don’t go on the highway. He’s not allowed to stick his head out the window, so he leans it against the door frame to enjoy the breeze, but if we go too fast I get dirty looks! LOL.
I love your videos, and I think it is just absolutely wonderful that you are training these kind of dogs. I just had to put a dog down because of liver failure and I am just so sad. A week later we adopted our puppy, Biscuit. Your videos are helping a lot with walking and training. Of course that is a different situation but it still helps. When we took biscuit to Pet co she loved looking at the toys. I would like to know if it is harder to train guide puppies than puppies. I hope you have fun.
i have a 3 yr old yellow lab ,Maggie, and we dont have a pet store near were i live so i guess thats a no but we have taken her to petco once….and that didnt turn out so well cuz we bought her when she was 2 and she didnt know many commands and was VERY hyper so yeah but shes improving a lot
@GuideDogManiac He’s a German Shepherd/Husky cross. Luckily, he’s still healthy. He didn’t pick anything up at the pet store.
@apaprikao Thanks for watching. I don’t take my puppies any place where other dogs may have been until they are fully vaccinated just to be super safe
What kind of puppy is maverick?
I love these videos. Ricki is only a week or two older than my puppy so it’s nice to see what you’re doing at this stage and I like to incorporate any tips you give into my life. Maverick turned 16 weeks today and goes for his final shots on Wednesday. I accidentally took him to a pet store already. I didn’t know I shouldn’t do that. He enjoyed the treats and bone aisle.
@GuideDogManiac thanks
@DAnd2007B Thanks for tuning in, I love hearing about working teams and what they are doing together
@michieliboy1 I would work on distracting her from the other animals and reward her for good behavior, start from far away and work your way closer.
Hi, love listening to the videos. When I take my guide Baskin to the pet store he seems to love the treats, and food aisles the best.
He also loves cats, and would like it if I let him visit with them more.
@GuideDogManiac i started screeming on her.
@michieliboy1 What have you tried to fix this problem?
I don’t take Atila, my 2 year old yellow lab, to the pet store. We don’t have a nice big petstore over here, the only thing similar thing being the vet’s office, and we haven’t needed to take him there often.
His bird hunting instincts do get a good work out tough, because we have a very small ostrich ranch and there’s a lot of feathers to ruffle. He’ll tease the big birds from “his” side of the fence(he isn’t dumb) and if he ever finds a stray feather, he turns it into his favorite toy!
Congrats on being “Legal!” We take our PIT’s to the pet store – so far, mine have just enjoyed the other dogs and always ignored the birds, rabbits, fish, hamsters, and cats.
supercute
!!
If my dog see an animal, then she’s freaking out… What can i do? pleas help me
She’s SO BIG!!!
@marlismolitor I love hearing stories like this, I’m so glad that you are having a good a great experience
Please keep sharing as your partnership grows.
I feel so liberated when I leave my house with Gable. I use public buses now. NO MORE 30 minute windows waiting to be picked up with Paratransit. Gable lets me know the bus is coming before it even gets to the bus stop. :>)
Happy 16 Weeks old!
I’ve never taken my dog to the pet store because(knowing her) she would try to attack every other animal in the store. Shes a rat terrier, about 16 years old ,and almost blind, so anything that’s small, moves around, and makes noise she wants to “hunt”.
